Red Ambassadors are the main point of contact for Chinese passengers and visitors seeking assistance during the busy Christmas and Chinese New Year Period.
Sydney Airport is working hard to show that we are ’China ready’, and continually looking to enhance the experience of Chinese speaking travelers. Along with the Red Ambassador program, Sydney Airport is implementing several projects to benefit Chinese travelers:
- Chinese-language signage.
- Airport guides printed in Simplified Chinese.
- China Union Pay implemented across many retail outlets.
- iPhone app supporting simplified Chinese.
- Asian food options in our food courts.
We welcome your feedback on these initiatives.
Red Ambassador Volunteer applications closing soon
The volunteering opportunity will provide you with a good understanding of the airport environment, which will be particularly useful if you are seeking a career in aviation, tourism, retail or other customer service related industry. This is also a fantastic opportunity for ESL students to improve their English skills in a customer service environment.
Initially we are actively seeking volunteers who can speak conversation level Mandarin and English or above. Full training, uniform and travel cost reimbursements will be provided to those that are selected to participate in the program.
This opportunity is available from late November 2013 to 28th February 2014. It is expected that those selected to volunteer will be able to commit to at least 4 hours each week with preference given to those who are able to provide 8 hours a week (2 x 4 hour blocks).
If this sounds like an opportunity you would be interested in please complete an expression of interest form and tell us a bit more about yourself.
Submissions close Thursday, 21st November 2013.
