Sydney Airport holds an annual Lost Property Auction of unclaimed items left at the airport, with all proceeds going to charity.
The 2016 Auction raised $200,000 with funds distributed to Conservation Volunteers Australia, The Clontarf Foundation, The Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation and Lifeline Australia.
These four deserving charities focus on environment, health, education and families in need. Specifically, the funds will be directed to:
- rehabilitating and restoring coastal areas in Botany Bay National Park
- supporting 24 young indigenous boys at the Endeavour Clontarf Academy in Caringbah to achieve positive education, employment and health outcomes
- supporting children who live with families affected by mental illness
- contributing to Australia’s first text- based crisis service
