Sydney Airport has a long history of partnering with local and national charities and organisations in our local community.
Sydney Airport Community Christmas Giving Appeal
In 2013, Sydney Airport coordinated the second Christmas Giving Appeal, calling on staff, passengers, airport retailers, businesses and organisations to raise money for Variety – the Children’s Charity. The campaign raised more than $180,000 to help Australian families living with sickness, disadvantage or special needs through a combination of promotions, volunteering activities and entertainment during the Christmas period.
Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation Inc.
Sydney Airport partnered with the locally-based St George Sutherland Shire organisation Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation Inc for the first time in 2013. Kookaburra Kids coordinates four camps a year for a group of 30 children and young adults who carry out primary carer roles in their families. The camps provide respite and relaxation for children and meet other children in a similar situation to share experiences and get support.
We strongly encourage our staff to support community activities that raise awareness for important causes and in the past have supported Daffodil Day, Legacy Week, Red Shield Appeal, Pink Ribbon Day and the Cancer Council Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.
