Sydney Airport is planning to upgrade the road network in the T1 terminal precinct.
Sydney Airport has already begun upgrading the road network in the T1 precinct, with improvements already having been made to widen the drop off lane on Departures Road, create a separate public and bus drop off zone to move all buses to the southern end of Departures Road and reconfigure Airport Drive at its intersection with Link Road to create a separate ‘Departures’ lane.
Starting in July 2014, further work will be carried out over the next two years, including:
- Building a new free flowing road network through the precinct
- Relocating entry and exit gates to reduce traffic queuing
- Widening roads to increase road capacity
- Building new flyovers to reduce congestion
These changes will make it quicker and easier for motorists to enter, move through and exit the T1 precinct. Work is expected to be completed by mid-2017.

We will be making every effort to keep disruption to a minimum during construction but there could be stages of the works that will cause delays for motorists.
