Sydney Airport has donated $20,000 to Kookaburra Kids Foundation to support children living in families affected by mental illness.

The donation will directly fund the Kookaburra Kids Foundation respite camp for teenagers in Years 9 to 12.

Sydney Airport General Manager Corporate Affairs, Sally Fielke, presented a cheque to the charity at their camp in Fairy Meadow on Saturday, 9 November.

“We’re honoured to support Kookaburra Kids Foundation, which provides vital services to children and teenagers in the local community who need respite from a primary caring role and responsibilities well beyond their years,” Ms Fielke said.

“Sydney Airport works closely with our community and it’s through partnerships with worthy organisations such as Kookaburra Kids Foundation that we’re able to make a real difference in people’s lives.”

Kookaburra Kids Foundation CEO, Pam Brown, said the quarterly camps provide welcome respite for kids through activities, seminars, counselling and support services.

“Without these funding contributions from corporate partners, our program just wouldn’t exist,” Ms Brown said.

“We are very grateful to Sydney Airport for their funding and for coming along to the camp to meet the great kids we work with.”

State Member for Heathcote, Lee Evans MP, and State Member for Menai, Melanie Gibbons MP, attended the cheque presentation to celebrate the contribution of the volunteers and supporters of Kookaburra Kids Foundation.
