Sydney Airport’s Coopers Alehouse named Airport Bar of the Year

• Sydney Airport’s Coopers Alehouse recognised as Airport Bar of the Year in fourth annual Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Awards 2014
• Awards highlight best and most innovative projects in travel-related food and beverage

A recent addition to Sydney Airport’s T2 Domestic terminal, Coopers Alehouse, operated by Emirates Leisure Retail (Australia), has been awarded Airport Bar of the Year at the 2014 FAB Awards.

“We congratulate the team at Emirates Leisure Retail on their win for the Coopers Alehouse concept bar in Sydney Airport’s T2 Domestic terminal (T2). This award serves as a testament to Sydney Airport’s commitment to providing unique food and beverage experiences to our customers,” Sydney Airport General Manager Retail, Glyn Williams, said.

“We have continually strived to revitalise our precincts in both T1 and T2, with a strong focus on food and beverage, to expand our retail diversity, offer choice and value, cater to the multicultural tastes of our travellers and enhance our customers’ experience throughout their visit.

“With the addition of Coopers Alehouse to T2 last year, we further enriched Australia’s busiest and most vibrant terminal. At Sydney Airport, we take pride in offering our customers original retail concepts, to provide unique experiences for travellers.”

ELR Australia Managing Director, Adam Summerville, said, “To win an internationally recognised award like this for our offering at Sydney Airport is a huge achievement, and we are thrilled to win such a prestigious global award.

The awards were presented at the fourth annual Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Conference and Awards in Copenhagen. The FAB Awards, a partnership between The Moodie Report and sister title The Foodie Report, are the world’s only airport-specific food and beverage awards and showcase the best in travel-related food and beverage operations worldwide. Nineteen awards were presented to outlets across a variety of categories and were chosen from a pool of 200 entries submitted from around the world.

“We again congratulate Emirates Leisure Retail on their win for Sydney Airport’s Coopers Alehouse bar and we look forward to continued success with all of our retail partners,” Mr Williams said.

Australian family-owned brewery Coopers, in conjunction with Emirates Leisure Retail Australia, opened Coopers Alehouse at Sydney Airport’s T2 Domestic terminal in August 2013. The bar offers travellers a wide selection of food and beverages, including Coopers’ famous brews on tap, local and imported beers, wines and pre-mixed beverages.
