  • New precinct will showcase the very best in gourmet Asian cuisine

As part of the current improvements program at T1, Sydney Airport invites responses to its request for proposal (RFP) for up to seven new compelling food and beverage brands to launch the new Marketplace in Pier B Departures beyond customs, enhancing value and choice for passengers.

The new RFP seeks to uncover a selection of gourmet urban, fast and fresh foods as well as a cluster of premium Asian street food brands across a selection of cuisines including Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese.

The newly developed food and dining precinct, located closer to boarding gates with enhanced casual seating, will offer a contemporary street food feel showcased against a backdrop of commanding views of the city and airfield at Sydney Airport’s T1.

The Marketplace forms part of Sydney Airport’s T1 improvement program that responds to airline and passenger feedback by launching distinct precinct destinations across fashion, food and dining with enhanced ambience and direct sightlines to the boarding gate lounges.

Sydney Airport General Manager Retail, Glyn Williams said the new Marketplace offers an exceptional opportunity for strong food and beverage brands as well as leaders in Asian cuisines to be situated within one of the most distinctive areas of T1.

“The Marketplace will be one of Sydney Airport’s most exciting food and dining precincts offering passengers a strong mix of great street food style fare, especially Asian cuisine that blends traditional flavours with a contemporary offering. The soon to be raised roof height in the area will add to the dramatic backdrop of the airfield, while the casual seating layout will provide ample spaces for passengers to sit and relax in close proximity to their gate lounge. We’re looking forward to working with innovative brands to help bring the space to life,” Mr Williams said.

“We’re committed to delivering incredible food and dining options across a range of price points at Sydney Airport to complement our improvements program, we’re excited to open the Marketplace in 2016 and further enhance the passenger experience.”
