Sydney Airport has announced revered Italian luxury brand Gucci will join the airport’s newly transformed T1 International fashion precinct in early 2017 in an Australian airport first.

Established in Florence in 1921 and now one of the world’s most distinguished fashion brands, Gucci will join a premium collection of 13 new brands at Sydney Airport, including Tiffany & Co., Kate Spade New York, Burberry, Max Mara, Michael Kors, TUMI, Emporio Armani and Hugo BOSS.

Representing the pinnacle of Italian craftsmanship and contemporary glamour, international passengers departing Sydney Airport will be able to purchase the brand’s timeless pieces before they depart. The new store will house Gucci’s iconic handbag range, leather goods and travel accessories, women’s and men’s fashion, timepieces and fine jewellery.

The 147 square-metre store interior will pay homage to the brand’s elegant store character, embellished with rosewood, marble and warm polished metals to create a luxurious and contemporary backdrop for the collections, while the exterior will boast a striking double-height eight-metre façade.

Sydney Airport’s T1 will soon be one of Sydney’s leading fashion destinations, offering an international retail mix designed to deliver more choice and value to customers.

“Gucci is one of the world’s most respected luxury brands and we are thrilled to announce it will call Sydney Airport home next year. Sydney Airport will soon boast the largest concentration of luxury retailers of any airport in Australia and we are very excited to offer our international passengers a truly exceptional shopping experience,” Sydney Airport General Manager Retail Glyn Williams said.

The arrival of Gucci forms part of Sydney Airport’s wider improvements program to create a world-class airport experience.

Gucci will open at Sydney Airport’s T1 International terminal, located after customs, in the first quarter of 2017.
