Parking terms and conditions

View detailed parking signage plans here.

Introduction

Sydney Airport Corporation Limited (“us” or “we”) offer a variety of car parking options at the airport, for your convenience. You can:

  • make an online reservation to ‘self-park’ or use valet parking via our website, which is governed by these terms and conditions;
  • ‘drive-up’ on the day to either ‘self-park’ or use valet parking.

In most cases, an online reservation for either ‘self-park’ or valet parking will be cheaper than the equivalent ‘drive-up’ rates, but will offer less flexibility. Alternatively, our prices for unreserved ‘drive-up’ self-parking and valet are often higher, but do provide you with more flexibility should your plans change. In all cases, it is your responsibility to select the option that is right for you.

Summary of key provisions

While not a substitute for reading and understanding the entirety of these terms and conditions in full, we wish to bring the following key provisions to your attention:

  • if you experience difficulties activating your booking on entry by scanning your QR code sent to you via the booking confirmation email, or by using the same physical credit card you used to during the booking process to complete the booking (or the physical credit card you nominated during the booking process), please DO NOT press the button for the ticket. Instead please press the HELP button for assistance from our Customer Service Team;
  • if you choose to activate your booking by using the nominated credit card, you must insert your physical credit card only. Using a digital credit card saved in your Apple or Google Wallet may result in drive up rates being charged on exit (because a digital credit card has a different identifier to its physical credit card equivalent). Also note, PayPal bookings must scan the QR code at the entry gate (you cannot use the credit card linked to your PayPal account to activate the booking);
  • we may use license plate recognition technology to verify and activate your booking at the entrance. You must ensure vehicle registration details on your booking matches the vehicle you use to enter the car park as failure to do so may result in drive up rates being charged on exit;
  • you may only amend your online reservation up to six hours before its commencement;
  • you must cancel your online reservation no later than 24 hours before its commencement if you wish to receive a refund;
  • while COVID 19 restrictions remain, Sydney Airport may reduce your online amendment and cancellation time to 2 hours prior to your booked entry time; and
  • in addition to these terms and conditions you agree to our Contractual Terms and Conditions of Entry (which are displayed at the entrance to all of our car parks and, for valet parking, our Valet Car Park Terms and Conditions.

Making an online reservation

  1. Our online booking system is a self-service reservation system. It allows you to check parking prices for your selected dates and times at our various car parks. You can use our self-service reservation system to generate an online quote. It is your responsibility to check, confirm and manage your proposed times and dates.

  2. Online reservations for parking can only be obtained via the booking engine at prebook.sydneyairport.com.au and are subject to availability. We are not obliged to honour any reservations (or attempted reservations) you make anywhere else. Like many online reservation systems you may have used, the initial online quote provided reflects the dates and times you have selected at the time of your request and may be subject to change before it is finalised. Your reservation is only finalised (and the price confirmed) once you have completed the reservation process and your payment has been processed. You will then receive a unique booking reference number on your screen that you should make note of.

  3. You will also receive a booking reference email (with QR Code) via the email address you provided. It is your responsibility to provide us with the correct email address and to ensure that the relevant email account is functioning. Please contact us via the contact details below if you have not received a booking reference email after completing your reservation.

  4. If selected during the reservation process, an additional confirmation message (that does not contain your unique booking reference number or QR Code and cannot be used to gain entry to our car park) will also be sent via an SMS message to the mobile phone number you provided. It is, again, your responsibility to ensure that you provide us with the correct mobile phone number.

Changes to an online reservation

  1. We provide you with access to our online booking engine for your convenience. In exchange for the discounted price we charge you, the nature of the reservation you make with us is fixed. If you require more flexibility on the day you attend our car park, the ‘drive-up’ option (and rates) may be more suitable.

  2. You may amend your online reservation at any time up until six hours prior to the start of your reservation. After this time, no further changes are possible.

  3. For example, if you make an online ‘self-parking’ reservation, it is not then possible to make changes to this reservation or to make ‘upgrades’ on arrival at our car park (for example, to include valet parking). Similarly, you cannot make an online reservation for valet parking and then elect to ‘self-park’ on the day.

  4. We may use license plate recognition technology to verify and activate your booking at the entrance. You must ensure vehicle registration details on your booking matches the vehicle you use to enter the car park as failure to do so may result in drive up rates being charged on exit.

  5. All online reservations are personal to you and are non-transferable.

Nature of an online reservation

  1. All online reservations are valid for one entry and one exit only. That is, multiple entries are not permitted.

  2. Any reservation you make is valid only for the times, dates, car park and airport specified in that reservation and cannot be amended other than as set out above.

  3. In particular, no changes are possible once you have actually entered our car park. This includes ‘extending’ your reservation via our website or creating a ‘new’ reservation. This is only possible where you are able to physically exit your vehicle from our car park before re-entering using your new reservation.

  4. When attending our car park, you must have your booking confirmation email with you (with QR code), along with the credit card you used or nominated during the booking process (if applicable) to complete the booking. In order to gain entry in accordance with your online reservation, you will need to follow the instructions to enter the car park and scan the QR code located on your booking reference email or use the physical credit card you nominated during the booking process. If you choose to activate your booking by using the nominated credit card, you must insert your physical credit card only. Using a digital credit card saved in your Apple or Google Wallet may result in drive up rates being charged on exit (because a digital credit card has a different identifier to its physical credit card equivalent). Also note, PayPal bookings must scan the QR code at the entry gate (you cannot use the credit card linked to your PayPal account to activate the booking)

  5. For online bookings which have a duration of 3 hours or less, your booking will be void if you arrive more than 2 hours earlier or later than your nominated booking time. 'Drive-up' charges apply upon entry.

  6. For online bookings which have a duration of 3 hours or less, your booked stay duration begins from the time of entry. If you stay over your booked duration, 'drive-up' rates will be charged.

  7. If you fail to activate your booking on entry by following the instructions on your booking confirmation email, you will need to enter in accordance with our standard, drive-up (non-discounted) rates, which are clearly displayed at the car park entry, as well as on our website. If you are issued with a car parking ticket on entry to our car park, please retain this in a safe place as you will require it to exit the car park. There may be additional charges if you lose this ticket.

  8. We will use reasonable endeavours to honour your online reservation at the location and time of your selection. However, for regular (non-guaranteed space) online reservations we do not represent or warrant that the car park you selected (or any of our car parks) will be available at the time of your selection, or at all.

  9. If, on attendance at your selected car park, a space is not available at your selected time, we will use reasonable endeavours to:

  • in the first instance, allocate you a space in one of our other car parks; and
  • if this is not possible, make alternative arrangements at no additional cost to you.
  1. Notwithstanding anything else in these terms and conditions, we reserve the right to close any or all of our car parks at the airport for safety, security or operational maintenance or new development requirements or where reasonably necessary to deal with circumstances beyond our reasonable control. We will:
  • notify you of any proposed closure if you have an online reservation in the proposed closure period;
  • notify you if any alternative car parking arrangements may be available;
  • permit you to cancel or amend your online reservation by no later than 2 hours before its commencement, failing which you agree that we may cancel your online reservation and issue you with a refund in our absolute discretion; and
  • in our absolute discretion, waive any additional fees if you car is parked longer than the period under your online reservation due to a closure of the airport or the car park.

We will not be liable to you for any period in which you are unable to retrieve your car from our car park due to a closure of the car park or the airport for safety or security or operational maintenance or new development requirements or where reasonably necessary to deal with circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Payment and additional fees

  1. All prices shown when making an online reservation are in Australian dollars and include GST. You will also be charged a credit card, debit card or paypal payment fee which will be a small percentage of your parking fee and reflects our cost in processing your payment. The fee varies depending on the payment method and is set as follows: Visa - 0.9% , MasterCard – 0.9%, American Express - 1.6%, Diners Club – 2.4%, PayPal – 1%.

  2. Provided that you comply with these terms and conditions and the Contractual Terms and Conditions of Entry, the price you are shown prior to finalising your reservation is inclusive of all applicable fees, including parking fees, booking fees and credit card fees.

  3. If your actual entry and exit time are shorter than your reserved times (i.e. a portion of your reservation remains ‘unused’), no refund will be payable by us.

  4. It is extremely important that you take responsibility for accurately calculating and inputting your required entry and exit times. If your actual duration is longer than your booked time, you will be charged additional fees at exit. Such additional fees will be calculated by reference to our standard (non-discounted) ‘drive up’ rates for each day (or part thereof) outside of your booked time.

  5. Such additional fees are payable regardless of the reason for your delay in returning to your vehicle and are payable before you leave the car park. Our standard (non-discounted) ‘drive-up’ rates are clearly displayed prior to you entering our car park.

  6. We may also charge you additional fees where you park across more than one bay, including where you do so because your vehicle is too large to park in a single bay. In such circumstances, the additional fees will be equal to the cost of the second bay, charged by reference to our normal (non-discounted) ‘drive-up’ rates.

Valet parking

  1. For valet parking, you also agree to the additional terms and conditions set out in our Valet Car Park Terms and Conditions.

  2. The T2 Prebook Valet parking service requires car drop off between 5am - 11am on entry date and car pick-up between 1pm - 11:30pm on exit date. Late arrival: your booking will be void if you enter past 1pm on the entry date.

Cancellations and refunds

  1. You may cancel an online reservation in one of these two ways: a) Go to the top of the booking website and click ‘MANAGE/CANCEL BOOKING’.
  • Enter your email address, booking reference number and click SUBMIT.
  • To cancel your booking, click 'CANCEL' at the bottom of the page and following the prompts. The cancellation confirmation will be emailed to you.
  • All refunds can take 2-3 business days for the refund to be visible on your account; or

b) by notifying us by email at book@syd.com.au along with the following details:

  • your full name;
  • your contact number;
  • your booking reference number;
  • your booking period; and
  • an explanation of why you could not cancel your reservation online.
  1. In addition to any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, we will provide a refund of your online reservation where:
  • you effectively cancel an online reservation (in accordance with these terms and conditions) no later than 24 hours prior to its commencement; or
  • on your attendance at our car park, we are unable to accommodate your vehicle in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  1. For the avoidance of doubt, but subject to any rights you have under law including under the Australian Consumer Law, we will not provide you with a refund under clause 28 where:
  • you cancel your online reservation less than 24 hours prior to its commencement;
  • you are unable to enter our car park, because your vehicle does not comply with our height and weight restrictions;
  • you park in a different car park (or area of a car park) from that displayed on your online reservation;
  • you do not attend the airport on the day or at the time of the online reservation; or
  • you fail to gain entry in accordance with your online reservation instructions by either scanning the QR code provided on the Online Booking Confirmation Letter or by using the same credit card you used to pay for your booking at the entry (if applicable).
  1. If we grant you a refund pursuant to clause 28, we will credit this electronically to the bank account nominated by you for that purpose.

  2. The decision to grant or not grant a refund pursuant to clause 28 is at our sole discretion.

  3. If you made an online reservation through a third party (rather than directly through us), you should contact that third party (e.g. a reseller) in the first instance.

Disputes

  1. If you wish to dispute any charge levied against you under this agreement please notifying us by email at book@syd.com.au along with the following details:
  • your full name;
  • your contact number;
  • your booking reference number;
  • a scanned copy of your car park receipt (if any);
  • an indication of the form of payment you used when making your online reservation; and
  • where this was a credit card, the first six and last three digits only.

We will assess your dispute notice and will contact you with our determination. Where we reasonably deem your dispute to be without merit, we reserve the right to charge you a $28 administration charge as a contribution towards the cost of processing the dispute claim made by you.

Promotions

  1. From time to time, we may directly (or via our third party partners and resellers) offer short-term, promotional online special offers or conduct marketing activities including market research surveys, customer profiling, customer insights and targeted marketing activities (such as through email, SMS, social media and other online channels) in respect of our car parks, and the products and services of Sydney Airport and its affiliates and trusted third party partners, advertisers and sponsors.

  2. Such promotions will be governed by the terms and conditions of that promotion, which will apply in addition to these terms and conditions. Unless stated otherwise at that time, any such promotions:

  • cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers or promotions;
  • apply only to online reservations made in accordance with these terms and conditions and;
  • where they are related to our car park: (a) are strictly limited to the allocated number of places; and (b) expire once those allocated spaces are exhausted.

Your conduct at our car parks

  1. At all times while you are on our premises, you must drive carefully and responsibly. You must obey all speed limits indicated and otherwise comply with all relevant road rules.

  2. You may only park within designated parking bays. If you park in any other areas, we reserve the right to take appropriate steps, including moving your vehicle to an appropriate location.

  3. We, our agents or our representatives may enter, move or tow away your vehicle for operational, safety or security reasons.

  4. Where we take any of these steps because of your breach of this agreement or any applicable law, you will be liable to us for any reasonable costs we incur in doing so.

  5. You should allow sufficient time on arrival to find a parking space. At peak times, our car parks as well as the roads around the airport may be particularly busy. We do not accept responsibility if you miss your flight or your airline check-in has closed because you have not left enough time.

Security of your vehicle and liability

  1. The CCTV cameras installed in and around the parking precincts or structures are part of our general security and safety measures. They are not for the purpose of monitoring vehicles.

  2. The Australian Consumer Law sets out certain guarantees that may apply to the supply of services by us. These guarantees give you rights that cannot be excluded, restricted or modified. The exclusion of guarantees and warranties, and the limitation of liability, in these terms and conditions, apply subject to any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.

  3. While we will take all due care, to the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability to you under or in respect of the subject matter of this contract (including damage to or destruction or theft of your vehicle), whether arising under contract, statute, tort (including negligence), or otherwise, except to the extent it arises from fraud, negligence or default by us, or officers, employees, contractors or agents.

  4. We do not agree to accept any goods for safe custody and do not accept responsibility for the same. You must remove all personal property and other valuable items prior to leaving your vehicle in our car parks.

  5. If, despite above disclaimer, we are nevertheless liable to you then:

  • to the extent that liability arises under the Australian Consumer Law and if the services supplied to you are not of a kind ordinarily acquired for personal, domestic or household use or consumption, then our liability for breach of a guarantee is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law to: (i) supplying the services to you again; or (ii) the payment of the cost of having the services supplied again;
  • in all other cases not arising under the Australian Consumer Law, our liability (whether under contract, statute, tort (including negligence) or otherwise) is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law to the fees actually paid by you to us in connection with the circumstances in which such liability arose (e.g. the specific online reservation in question), except to the extent the liability arises from fraud, negligence or default by us, our officers, employees, contractors or agents; and
  • in any event, neither of us will be liable to the other for any incidental, indirect, punitive or consequential damages.

Electronic Monitoring

  1. You agree that your use of the Car Park is subject to the Contractual Terms and Conditions of Entry and any other signage displayed in the Car Park from time to time, and directions given by us whilst you are using our Car Park.

  2. The license plate information you provide to Sydney Airport enables us to manage the operation of the car park. By entering the car park you consent to Sydney Airport collecting and using this information. As is now common in many areas frequented by members of the public, our car parks and associated areas are also monitored by CCTV.

  3. Upon entry to the car parks you accept the use of electronic monitoring via both licence plate recognition and CCTV camera technology being operational at all times.

Your privacy

  1. We take your privacy seriously. We will at all times collect, store, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles, the Privacy Notice – Parking and our Privacy Policy.

General

  1. We will not be in breach of these terms and conditions (or otherwise liable to you or any other person) for any matter or delay beyond our reasonable control or in connection with the exercise of any of our rights under these terms and conditions, including any closure of the airport or our car parks (or any part of them).

  2. Regardless of where you may be when you make an online reservation, the laws of New South Wales apply to these terms and conditions and the courts based there shall have jurisdiction. You waive any right to claim that such courts represent an inconvenient forum.

  3. Because of the nature of online booking systems, it may be necessary from time to time for us to amend or vary these terms and conditions (for example, an amendment to our refund policy) and/or our Privacy Policy. We may amend or vary these terms and conditions and/or our Privacy Policy without notice to you, effective in both cases from publication on our website. Your decision to use our online booking engine indicates your agreement to these terms and conditions, including as amended or varied.

  4. These terms and conditions (and any documents referred to within these terms and conditions) are the whole agreement between us and will, to the extent permitted by law, supersede or extinguish any other agreements, undertakings, representations or warranties relating to its subject matter.

  5. If any provision of these terms and conditions is held to be illegal, void, invalid or unenforceable at law, the legality, validity and enforceability of the remainder of these terms and conditions is not affected.
