At Sydney Airport, our focus is on enhancing the customer experience through investing in and upgrading facilities.
Initiatives include the introduction of SmartGates to more efficiently facilitate passengers through Customs, new self-service check-in kiosks, great value and convenient parking, and other terminal improvements.
"Did you know that there are now more than 16,700 places to park your car at Sydney Airport?"
In December 2013, we opened P3 car park, conveniently located at our Domestic terminal, providing 964 additional car parking spaces for travellers and visitors to the airport.
Over the past 18 months, we’ve introduced a suite of discounted online deals with great savings of up to 73 per cent available to customers who pre-book online.
In 2013 alone, more than 200,000 customers have taken advantage of these online savings.
"Sydney Airport has an 11-point, five-year action plan which addresses our commitments to maximise energy, water and waste efficiencies, and reduce noise."
For example, we recycled 220 million litres of water in 2012. Our recycling plant delivers more than 600,000 litres of water per day and has reduced our potable water usage per passenger by 10 per cent.
In 2012, we were recognised in the in the 2012 Green Globes, winning the 10-year Sustainability Achievement Award for outstanding leadership and commitment to sustainability between 2002 and 2012.
Sydney Airport is Airport Carbon Accredited by Airports Council International (ACI) under its carbon standard for airports, as part of our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability. In order to achieve certification at Level 1 (Mapping) of Airport Carbon Accreditation, we had to map the various sources of CO2 emissions on the airport site and then have our specific carbon footprint independently verified. We also had to provide details of its carbon management processes.
We’ve been upgrading and refurbishing our terminals in time for the busy Christmas holiday period. We’ve upgraded six of our bathrooms, installed energy-efficient lighting in our common areas, and paved and landscaped outdoor areas.
We have many other projects planned for 2014 to make your journey more pleasant.
