Sydney Airport appeals to culture lovers with new retail brands at T1

National Geographic and A Little Something open in SYD International terminal

Sydney Airport, in conjunction with Heinemann Asia Pacific, has enhanced the retail offering at the T1 International terminal with the opening of two unique concept stores; Australia’s first National Geographic airport outlet and a gourmet gift store, A Little Something.

Visitors can experience a new and exciting way to explore the world when they visit National Geographic at Sydney Airport. Drawing on National Geographic’s 125-year heritage of inspiring people to care about the planet, National Geographic’s store brings together its products and services in a constantly evolving, culturally inspired setting.

The store features a wide selection of National Geographic products, including its award-winning magazines, books and DVDs, as well as newly created products. The store also offers items designed for the rigours of adventure and exploration, from casual travel gear to multi-layered apparel suitable for diverse climates and activities.

Inspired by the French delicatessens of old, A Little Something combines Victorian and modern elements to create a sophisticated shopping environment. The store carries an assortment of gourmet foodstuffs from international brands, such as Fortnum & Mason and Max Brenner, and local Australian brands including T2 Tea, MakMak Macarons and Maggie Beer. Positioned as a gourmet gift store, A Little Something also offers fresh macaron gift sets, complimentary gift wrapping service, ‘create your own gift set’ station and sampling treats.

We’re delighted that Heinemann is delivering the National Geographic store which will be yet another first in the Australian airport retail market,” Sydney Airport General Manager Retail, Andrew Gardiner, said.

“A Little Something not only includes well-known international brands but also provides an avenue for ‘local heroes’ to showcase their product through an international platform, while National Geographic provides an innovative offering of travel information and apparel to our customers. With millions of travellers passing through our International terminal each year, we’re committed to innovating and evolving our retail offering to provide an exceptional shopping experience with a greater choice of brands and outstanding value to all of our customers,” he added.

Heinemann Asia Pacific Chief Executive Officer, Steffen Brandt, said passengers will experience more than a traditional retail environment at National Geographic and A Little Something.

“With compelling interactive visual displays and state-of-the-art design, both stores are dedicated to stimulating, educating and inspiring visitors to celebrate global cultures. We’re delighted to work with Sydney Airport in delivering exciting retail experiences,” he said.

The new businesses will be operated by Travel Retail Australia Pty Limited, a joint venture between Heinemann Asia Pacific and Souvenir World Group.
