Driving Tourism

Sydney boasts a colourful array of artistic, creative, musical and performance-based talents as showcased through the many festivals and events throughout the year. As a major driver of economic growth and tourism for our state and country, Sydney Airport proudly supports the following major tourism events:

The Sydney Festival

Each year in January, our city is transformed into a hub of cultural creativity and celebration through the Sydney Festival. As a proud sponsor of the event, Sydney Airport ensures the Sydney Festival experience starts as soon as you land in our terminals. Sydney Airport is pleased to be a part of this annual cultural celebration, which drives tourism growth within Australia and New South Wales by attracting domestic and international visitors.

The Sydney Fringe Festival

Sydney Fringe Festival

Sydney Fringe Festival, which showcases various visual and performing arts talents. As a sponsor of the festival, Sydney Airport was able to utilise the creativity of various artists through the display of their works within our terminals. These onsite activations ensure the audience is engaged and aware of the many festive events that are hosted here in Sydney, New South Wales.

City of Sydney Chinese New Year

The City of Sydney Chinese New Year celebration is the largest such event outside of mainland China and draws significant international and domestic crowds each year. In 2012, China overtook the United Kingdom to become our second largest inbound nationality market and Sydney Airport is keen to show its ‘China ready’. Our Chinese New Year celebration featured dedicated signage, entertainment, decorations and retail offers across the airport precinct. In 2013 we also welcomed back our iPhone app, Android app and website to assist this growing market. We proudly welcome our Chinese visitors to Sydney Airport.
