Administrative Appeals Tribunal action settled

Sydney Airport’s challenge in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal over the submission date of its next master plan has now been settled.

“We are pleased that Minister Albanese has agreed to extend the revised deadline until 2 December 2013 to complete the next 20-year master plan,” Sydney Airport CEO Kerrie Mather said.

“The new vision concept to transform Sydney Airport into two common-use terminal precincts is an opportunity to improve the efficiency and productivity of the nation’s most important transport infrastructure asset.

“Sydney Airport generates and facilitates $27.6 billion a year in economic activity in terms of tourism and trade for Australia – nearly 2 per cent of GDP – and it’s important to get long-term planning for Australia’s gateway airport right.

“A master plan is a 20-year land-use plan for the terminals and airfield, which also includes a ground transport report. We’ll use the additional time to consult broadly and extensively, focusing particularly on improving transport links to the airport.

“We look forward to releasing a preliminary draft for public consultation mid-year.
