Sydney Airport is set to welcome more flights from Malaysia, with Malaysia Airlines commencing a third daily service between Sydney and Kuala Lumpur from 5 February 2014.
“Malaysia Airlines’ third daily service on its new Airbus A330-300 aircraft will increase capacity to meet growing demand, adding 207,000 additional seats a year to the Sydney-Kuala Lumpur route,” Sydney Airport Chief Executive Officer, Kerrie Mather, said.
“The new A330-300 aircraft offers passengers a new interior, mood lighting, more storage, individual entertainment screens and lie flat business class seats.”
“It is estimated this new frequency will deliver $124 million in inbound visitor expenditure to our state’s economy a year, providing a great boost to tourism and business in Sydney and New South Wales.”
From 21 November this year, Malaysia Airlines will increase its current double daily operations from Sydney to 18 flights per week with an additional four services a week. From 5 February 2014, the airline will increase from 18 to 21 flights per week with a triple daily service on its new A330-300 aircraft.
“The triple daily flights from 5 February will support the growing demand we are seeing from the market in New South Wales and is also a way of sustaining the momentum given the airline’s recent positive performance,” Malaysia Airlines’ Regional Vice President of Australia, New Zealand and South West Pacific, Mr Lee Poh Kait, said.
Malaysia Airlines provides passengers with connections to more than 60 destinations worldwide, including on its flagship A380 fleet to London, Paris and Hong Kong, as well access markets served by its oneworld alliance partners across the globe.
