Sydney Airport today announced its continued support for schools in the local community through its Schools Grants Program for 2012.

Sydney Airport CEO Kerrie Mather said the airport was proud to announce the School Grants Program is open for submissions allowing local schools to utilise funds for improvements to their facilities.

“The grants program – now in its eleventh year – provides much needed funding for schools in our local community to support new facilities, upgrade existing infrastructure and provide additional training programs,” Ms Mather said.

“It is a privilege for Sydney Airport to work with local schools by supporting community-based, environmental and education initiatives.

“Sydney Airport’s Community Investment Program focuses on strengthening relationships with organisations in our local community and it is through platforms such as the Schools Grants Program that we are able to achieve this.

“Sydney Airport is one of the state’s major employers, generating more than 206,000 jobs and many of these people live in our local community.

“Students are our future and it is fantastic that Sydney Airport can play a role in supporting the educational needs and requirements of our local schools.”

Application forms are available on the Sydney Airport website and should be submitted by Friday, 9 November 2012.
