Sydney Airport unveils further brands in T1 luxury retail line-up
  • Kate Spade New York, Michael Kors and TUMI will launch at T1 in the first half of 2016 in Australian airport first
  • Passengers to enjoy new luxury retail precinct in T1 International terminal

In an Australian airport first, Sydney Airport has announced leading international fashion brands, Kate Spade New York, Michael Kors and TUMI, to join the new T1 International terminal luxury precinct.

Due for completion in the first half of 2016, the T1 luxury precinct is part of the improvement program at Sydney Airport to deliver an enhanced airport experience for passengers. The luxury precinct line-up will include 13 global designer brands positioning Sydney Airport’s T1 terminal as one of the world’s premier fashion destinations.

“We are thrilled to announce the launch of Kate Spade New York, TUMI and Michael Kors in Sydney Airport’s T1 as the demand for our brands continues to grow in Australia,” GM Valiram Group Australia Brioney Prier said.

Global lifestyle brand Kate Spade New York will offer an extensive array of women’s accessories and handbags featuring crisp colours, graphic prints and playful sophistication that are the hallmarks of the brand.

Passengers will also be able to indulge in superior products from world-renowned designer Michael Kors. The store will carry a mix of accessories from the Michael Kors Collection and MICHAEL Michael Kors labels, as well as watches, jewellery and eyewear.

A natural fit for the airport environment, TUMI, the world’s leading brand of luxury travel, business and lifestyle accessories, will round out the offering with its unique blend of modern design and unparalleled quality, perfect for jetsetters.

“By welcoming Kate Spade New York, Michael Kors and TUMI to T1 we are creating an enviable luxury shopping opportunity for our international passengers, with some of the most recognised brands in the world. T1 will be the only airport destination in Australia where passengers can shop for these flagship brands,” Sydney Airport General Manager, Retail Glyn Williams said.

“The new luxury precinct within T1 Departures will soon showcase a vast selection of premium brands with new and on-trend luxury products and accessories across fashion, technology and lifestyle. We look forward to announcing the rest of the retail line-up very soon.”

The newly designed stores will display striking double-height facades with a refreshed and contemporary layout providing passengers with a sensory shopping experience and innate sense of glamour.

The revitalised luxury precinct will be complemented by works to raise the height of the roof in the adjacent forum area. When complete, these works will improve the passenger experience at T1 by creating a sense of light and openness and providing clearer lines of sight through the terminal.

The announcement follows an extensive process undertaken by Sydney Airport to produce a compelling mix of designer brands available at T1. The staged roll out is designed to transform the passenger experience and enhance the journey through Sydney Airport by delivering more choice and value. Passengers will be able to shop before flying, as well as collect their shopping upon arrival for returning passengers.

Sydney Airport’s improved T1 will also feature a new premium food and dining precinct and a superior duty free offering with partner Heinemann.
