Sydney Airport farewells GIANTS AFL Women’s team ahead of Round 1 match

• The GIANTS women’s AFL team leaves Sydney Airport for their round one match against the Adelaide in Adelaide • Sydney Airport an Official GIANTS AFL Women’s (AFLW) Partner as part of its support for emerging women leaders • Sydney Airport contributed $3.3 million to the community in 2016

Sydney Airport wishes the GIANTS all the very best of luck as they travel to Adelaide today for their round one match against Adelaide on Saturday.

Sydney Airport Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Kerrie Mather said the first round of the AFLW competition is an exciting milestone, and the airport is proud to be supporting the GIANTS women’s team from the very beginning.

“The GIANTS are breaking new ground as part of the inaugural AFLW season and Sydney Airport is so proud to be standing alongside them right from the start,” Ms Mather said.

“The GIANTS team members are impressive women showing genuine leadership in their field, and are outstanding role models in their community.

“We’re delighted to be supporting the team and we wish them all the very best against Adelaide this weekend.

“We also look forward to cheering them on at their first home game later this month.”

The team was met with balloons and banners in GIANTS colours at their Virgin Australia check- in counter, and good luck messages on screens located throughout the T2 terminal. A balloon arch at the gate saw the players board their flight in style.
