Summer holidays mean heavier than usual traffic on roads in and around Sydney Airport.

If you’re driving in and around the airport, traffic will be heavier than usual with the start of the summer holidays.

Large numbers of inbound and outbound travellers are expected at the airport on the following days:

  • every day from Friday 15 December 2017 to Sunday 14 January 2018

On all of these dates, the roads will be busiest:

  • from 6.30-10.30am at the T1 International terminal; and
  • from 6.30-10.30am, and 6.00-10.00pm, at the T2 and T3 Domestic terminals.

If you’re travelling by car to the airport, it’s important to allow plenty of additional travel time, particularly if you are planning to arrive at the airport to catch a flight or pick up passengers during the above peak periods. Travellers should also strongly consider catching the train to the airport to avoid traffic congestion.

If travelling internationally, plan to arrive at least three hours before your flight, or 90 minutes beforehand if flying domestically.Sydney Airport is continuing our work to upgrade roads to improve the flow of traffic into and out of T1 International. As we complete these works, there will be changed traffic conditions so drivers are urged to carefully observe all signage.

Due to our construction work, part of our outdoor car park, including free pick-up (Express Pick-up), at T1 is currently not available to the public. If you’re visiting T1 you can expect outdoor parking space and free pick-up to be in very heavy demand. Please be prepared for delays accessing free parking, especially during the morning peak period. Paid parking remains fully operational in the P7 multi-storey at T1 and we have increased the number of spaces available in that car park.

Sydney Airport also has an overflow drop-off zone at T1 International which operates during peak morning periods. Motorists are asked to follow all signage and directions from airport staff.

The NSW Government’s road upgrades immediately outside the T2/T3 Domestic precinct will also mean changed traffic conditions. Drop-off stopping times at all terminals are limited to one minute in order to keep traffic flowing.
