We’re working closely with the NSW Government to improve access to and from the airport. Our investment in in ground transport solutions within the airport precinct will be complemented by the NSW Government’s projects on the surrounding road network, as more than half of traffic in the airport precinct consists of commuters or commercial vehicles not going to the airport. We welcome the NSW and Australian governments’ commitment to invest $282 million to upgrade off-airport roads. We’re also advocating for improvements to O’Riordan and Robey streets and the widening of Marsh Street.
Surrounding road improvements
Work has begun to widen Joyce Drive between O'Riordan Street and Mill Pond Road to three lanes in each direction to improve traffic flow around the airport.
The planned replacement of the General Holmes Drive rail level crossing with a road underpass that links General Holmes Drive, Botany Road and Wentworth Avenue will improve access between the airport, Mascot and the eastern suburbs.
Planned improvements to the Mill Pond Road intersections with General Holmes Drive and Botany Road will also support future growth and access to the airport.
Further easing of traffic around the T2/T3 Domestic terminal is expected once the NSW Government’s Airport East project is completed.
