Major three-year partnership to restore critical habitat

We launched a major partnership with Conservation Volunteers Australia and Bayside Council to revive the Rockdale Wetlands Biodiversity Corridor.

This three-year project will drive environmental restoration activities throughout this critically important habitat and community space.

The Rockdale Wetlands runs from the Cooks River to Sans Souci and has been identified as a vital habitat for the protection of declining flora and fauna species in the local area.

The parklands and riparian areas attract birdwatchers and nature study groups while also supporting a range of other recreational activities, including extensive cycling tracks, sporting fields, tennis courts and playgrounds used by the community.

Volunteers can register to participate on the Reviving Rockdale Wetlands project by visiting www.conservationvolunteers.com.au or contacting Conservation Volunteers Sydney on 9331 1610.

In 2017, Sydney Airport and Conservation Volunteers Australia completed the three-year Kamay Botany Bay Regeneration Project, which involved the planting of more than 250 trees, removal of 53kg of rubbish, maintenance of more than 440 metres of walking tracks and the removal of invasive weeds across 1200 square metres.
