Celebrating Lunar New Year

Sydney Airport hosted Lunar New Year celebrations to mark the Year of the Horse in 2014.

Entertainment included a dragon dance performance, NSW Police Band concert and lion dancing, while travellers had the chance to win lucky red envelopes with an $88 gift voucher to spend at SYD Airport Tax and Duty Free.

Our popular Chinese-speaking Red Ambassadors were on hand to assist Chinese passengers with airport information.

The airport also sponsored the City of Sydney’s Chinese New Year Festival, the largest such celebration outside mainland China.

Sydney Airport is Australia’s international gateway and the premier tourist destination for Chinese visitors, with Chinese New Year a peak travel time for our Chinese passengers. China is our largest growing inbound tourism market.

Sydney Airport caters to our Chinese travellers with simplified Chinese wayfinding signage, digital apps and a mobile website, as well as tailored retail offerings. Most of our retailers accept Union Pay, the preferred credit card of our Chinese customers.
