Stepping into Singapore Zoo almost feels like walking into a rainforest in its natural form. Thick, green forests and a river surround the large and expansive animal exhibits. Once through the gates the sounds of birds, monkeys and other residents fill the air despite the animated buzz from excited tourists.
The Night Safari could be considered Singapore’s number 1 nightspot, and unsurprisingly so. Seeing elusive and nocturnal animals in their element is an intimate and thrilling adventure for the whole family. Seven different geographical regions are featured, and while the more unusual animals are a hit, seeing the ‘wallaby trail’ featuring Australian nocturnal natives may also give some Australian visitors a sense of patriotic pride.
Asia’s first and only river-themed safari is just a short stroll across the boardwalk from the main zoo. Study each of the world’s major river habitats with close-up encounters of land and sea animals. Don’t blink or you may miss a unique specimen - like the cute giant river otters. Asia’s first giant river otter was born here in fact this August. Rumour is he is about to learn how to swim for the first time.
