Sydney Airport supports local Newtown event
  • Silver Sponsor partner and Family Zone Presenter for the 37th Newtown Festival
  • More than 90,000 people expected to attend popular local event showcasing entertainment, artists and food
  • Festival supports Newtown Neighbourhood Centre

Sydney Airport will again support the Newtown Festival held at Camperdown Memorial Rest Park on Sunday, 8 November.

“Sydney Airport is proud to support our local community, including Newtown’s flagship community event which raises funds for the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre,” Sydney Airport managing director and chief executive officer Kerrie Mather said.

“Newtown Festival celebrates the people, businesses, artists and organisations in Sydney’s Inner West and promotes harmony, cultural understanding and sustainability.

“The popular festival brings together more than 90,000 people, and we encourage locals and families to head to Newtown on Sunday for this great community event.”

The festival will be held from 9am to 6pm on Sunday and features six entertainment areas, 280 market and food stalls, and free bike valet parking.

Sydney Airport is supporting the Work Station in the festival’s Family Zone, which includes jumping castles, story time, circus skills, craft and workshops.

Festivalgoers are encouraged to donate at the festival gate to support Newtown Neighbourhood Centre, which helps hundreds of locals in need through housing assistance, emergency relief, counselling support, English conversation classes, tax assistance and women’s support groups. People who donate $10 or more will receive express entry and a Newtown Festival stainless steel water bottle.

This is the third year Sydney Airport has supported the Newtown Festival. Sydney Airport contributed $1.5 million to the community in 2014 as part of its community engagement program, including events, schools, charities and community groups.
