• Sydney Airport hosting Storypod booth as part of Sydney Fringe Festival partnership

Sydney Airport visitors are sharing their stories, memories and experiences of Sydney in a unique initiative as part of the Sydney Fringe Festival this week.

The Storypod installation invites visitors to record a video telling their story, to be shared at Fringe events during the festival.

Sydney Airport Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Kerrie Mather said she looked forward to hearing what people love about arriving in Sydney.

“So many of our passengers come from around the world to soak up the fabulous tourism attractions, natural wonders and fantastic lifestyle we enjoy here in Sydney,” Ms Mather said.

“The Storypod is a chance for people to share their stories about our city – whether it’s their first visit to Sydney or their home town.

“We’re delighted to continue to support the Sydney Fringe Festival with this unique installation, as part of our continued commitment to the visual and performing arts.”

Sydney Fringe Festival Director and CEO Kerri Glassock said she was delighted to continue the long-term partnership with Sydney Airport.

“This year is our largest kids program to date and takes place on the first 10 days of the September/October school holidays,” Ms Glassock said.

“There are so many terrific things to see, hear and do. Highlights include Lah-lah’s Big Live Band performing with the Sydney Youth Orchestra at Sydney Town Hall and Play School’s favourite Monica Trapaga performing in The Boy Who Was Born With A Moustache, a kooky kids tale with circus, comedy and storytelling.

“We look forward to welcoming young and old to the Sydney Fringe Festival.”

The Storypod sees the airport kick off celebrations ahead of the official start to the Festival on Friday, 1 September.

The fun, unique and interactive platform will capture videos of passengers, staff and other airport visitors, asking them what they love about arriving in Sydney, and what they can’t live without – creativity or travel.

Located at the T1 Arrivals forecourt, the Storypod will be in place from Monday, 28 August to Friday, 1 September.

Sydney Airport has signed up to be a Major Partner of the Festival for the next three years, and has been a supporter for the last seven years.

The partnership is focused on providing quality, interactive cultural activities for local families in the Inner West, as the Official Fringe Kids Partner.

Sydney Airport has made a significant contribution to visual and performing arts as part of its community investment program, with other key partnerships with the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney Symphony Orchestra and VIVID Sydney.
