Sydney Airport continues support for Australian Women’s Sevens

  • Partnership continues ahead of 2018 Commonwealth Games and World Series, and 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Sydney Airport farewelled the Australian Women’s Sevens team as they departed for France on Sunday, confirming their support for the team for a further three years. Sydney Airport Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Kerrie Mather said the partnership was an important part of the airport‘s commitment to leadership in women’s sport.

“We were delighted to support the Australian Women’s Sevens in the lead up to their gold medal performance at the Rio Olympics last year and we continue to be a proud partner of the team,” Ms Mather said.

“The team is inspiring so many girls in our community to pursue their chosen sport to the very highest level and we’re excited about what’s ahead in the next three years.”

ARU General Manager of Commercial John Nicholl welcomed Sydney Airport’s continued support.

“We are delighted that Sydney Airport has increased their support of our gold medal-winning Australian Women’s Sevens team, who are such great role models for young women in this country,” Mr Nicholl said.

“With Sydney Airport’s commitment to leading and learning in the community, they are fitting partners of the Australian Women’s Sevens team who are similarly dedicated to promoting the positive benefits of leadership, education and teamwork.”

Sydney Airport’s partnership will continue as the team prepares for next year’s Commonwealth Games and World Series, ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Their support forms part of Sydney Airport’s commitment to leading and learning in the community, and recognises the team’s high standards of leadership, commitment, drive and focus.
