  • Fun day out featuring music, entertainment, art and family friendly activities

Sydney Airport will again support the thriving Inner West community at the 39th annual Newtown Festival on Sunday, 12 November.

Sydney Airport Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Kerrie Mather said the local community event is a highlight of the cultural calendar.

“Sydney Airport’s community investment program seeks to keep communities connected, healthy, vibrant and thriving, so we’re proud to support the local Inner West community, who share our values of diversity, inclusiveness and creativity,” Ms Mather said.

“This year’s festival theme, Home is where the heart is, also aligns strongly with Sydney Airport as an organisation that fosters connections between people, and celebrates Sydney, NSW and Australia.

“The Newtown Festival is a great day out and we’re encouraging everyone to bring their friends and family for a festival of fun!”

Newtown Neighbourhood Centre CEO Liz Yeo said Sydney Airport’s Distinguished Level Sponsorship of the event will help to support people who need a helping hand.

“Newtown Festival is proud to work with long term partner Sydney Airport,” Ms Yeo said.

“The partnership will help fund our major focus of providing social support and other services to disadvantaged or marginalised people. We are working towards creating a more inclusive, resilient, vibrant and self-reliant community.”

Festivalgoers are encouraged to donate to raise much needed funds for the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre, which has provided services to the Inner West community for 40 years, including people with disabilities, mental health issues, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and those at risk of homelessness.

Newtown Festival will be held at Camperdown Memorial Rest Park from 9.30am to 5.30pm on Sunday, 12 November. Highlights of the day include musical performances, kids’ zone, dog show, writers tent, Heaps Gay, markets, food stalls, live art and an eco village.
