Friday 20 May 2022

Total passenger traffic in April 2022 was 2,482,473 passengers, down 32.6% on the corresponding period in 2019.

Domestic passenger traffic totalled 1,938,202 in April 2022, down 15.1% on the corresponding period in 2019. 544,271 international passengers passed through Sydney Airport in April 2022, down 61.1% on the corresponding period in 2019.

Sydney Airport CEO Geoff Culbert said: “Domestic passenger numbers recovered strongly on the back of the Easter long weekend and NSW school holiday period.

“The international recovery continues to lag the domestic recovery, but we are seeing steady improvement and international passenger numbers in April returned to almost 39% of their pre-COVID levels.

“The improving passenger traffic is terrific for everyone in the industry, but we are all still grappling with labour shortages. Looking ahead, we anticipate the July school holidays will see demand spike again, and we are preparing accordingly.”
