Virgin Australia has officially launched its first long-haul international service from Sydney to Doha, in partnership with Qatar Airways, marking an exciting new chapter in its international expansion and delivering more choice to passengers from Sydney Airport.
The daily service offers seamless access to more than 170 global destinations via Doha, through Qatar Airways’ award-winning global network.
The launch was celebrated this morning at Sydney Airport, with Virgin Australia CEO Dave Emerson joined by representatives from Qatar Airways and Sydney Airport’s CEO Scott Charlton to mark the inaugural departure.
Sydney Airport CEO Scott Charlton welcomed the partnership and praised Virgin Australia’s international ambitions.
“We’re proud to support Virgin Australia’s return to long-haul international flying from Sydney and congratulate both Virgin Australia and Qatar Airways on this significant milestone,” he said.
“This new daily service enhances connectivity, increases choice for passengers and strengthens competition, all of which benefit travellers and the broader aviation ecosystem.”
The partnership between Virgin Australia and Qatar Airways will deliver up to 70 weekly flights between Australia and Doha, providing new one-stop travel options for Australians, whether travelling for business, leisure or to visit family abroad.
