On 19 November 2019, we will celebrate Sydney Airport's Centenary, making us one of the world’s oldest continually operating airports.
From that solitary flight piloted by pioneer aviator Nigel Love carrying just one passenger, we’ve grown to now look after more than 44 million passengers every year.
This is a tremendous milestone, not just as a landmark in aviation history for the airport, but also for Sydney and the broader community we’ve served for 100 years.
As Sydney’s Airport, our story has always been closely linked with that of our city and the state of New South Wales and will continue to be, as we look forward to the next 100 years.
We’ve created our Centenary Centre as a convenient online hub for information about our history, fun facts and a timeline showcasing some of the moments which have been pivotal over the years to our growth and success.
As we head towards our 100th anniversary in November, we’ll be sharing more about our exciting plans and adding to the material available here, so be sure to visit these pages regularly.
For further enquiries about SYD’s Centenary, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the meantime, if you’re posting your own memories or stories about the airport on social media, please feel free to use the hashtags #sydneyairport and #thenext100.
A Centenary is a significant milestone and a time to reflect on past achievements, but it’s equally important to look forward. I’m incredibly excited about the future of aviation and look forward to sharing the next stages of our journey with you.
