To support a more inclusive and supported experience, Sydney Airport offers a Quiet Room at Terminal 1 International.

This is a dedicated space for departing passengers who may feel overwhelmed, anxious or distressed, especially neurodivergent travellers. This calm space provides a low-stimulation setting to pause, reset, and feel more comfortable before continuing your journey.

The room has been designed in collaboration with Autistic people and experts at Aspect (Autism Spectrum Australia) to meet good practice guidelines for supporting calming experiences.

Booking the Quiet Room

Bookings are essential to access the Quiet Room. It is recommended to make a booking prior to your travel date using the booking widget below. You can also book the Quiet Room by scanning the QR code at the door on your day of travel, subject to availability. A maximum of 4 people can use the space at any one time.

How to book the room

Bookings are essential to access the Quiet Room. You can secure a booking online prior to your travel date. You can also book the Quiet Room by scanning the QR code at the door on your day of travel.

If the room is occupied at the time of travel, you may wish to explore our sensory map of Terminal 1 Departures to identify a quieter space instead.

Once you have booked and accepted the terms of use, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your booking reference and a unique PIN code to access the room at your allocated time. Enter the PIN on the number pad provided at the entry door to the Quiet Room.

Bookings are free of charge and can be cancelled or rescheduled at any time.

How to find the room

The Quiet Room is located on the departures level of the T1 International Terminal.

Once you pass security and border control (outbound), turn right before the duty free/retail shopping area, following the overhead signs to the Quiet Room down a small corridor, next to an adult changing places facility.

If you need some help finding the room, please ask a staff member or visit our friendly Ambassador team at the information desk for further details.
